Our brand new sloyd knife is made from top modern 26C3 steel, the Swedish equivalent to the famous Japanese shirogami "white paper" steel. It is the only one of its kind and is specifically developed to try and be the best knife that money can buy. Designed by a professional carver, using one of the best knife steel on the market and forged with a custom heat treatment for optimal performanceIt has a hardness of ~61hrc but is still easy to sharpen. The back of the blade is rounded and polished for more comfortable push cuts, and it allows you to burnish the wood smooth after carving. All knifes are handmade and signed, and all knifes come with a diamond polished flat over hollow -grind.
Sharpening this knife really no different than any other knife. However, we recommend that you use diamonds or cbn sharpening abrasives to maximize edge retention. We also recommend that you strop with 8000 grit (3 micron) diamond paste instead of ordinary stropping compound. You can do this about five - ten times before resharpening the knife with 1000 grit (~20 micron). The hollowgrind will last a very long time but can be reset with any regular grindstone like a tormek etc.
